Older Americans Act Grants Process:
February
Requests for Proposals are solicited through the JAAA website,
Amazing Aging Newsletter and press releases to the media.
March Deadline
for Requests for Proposals*
Grants committee review requests and interview applicants
April JAAA
Board and Advisory Council approve allocations to agencies
and services to be provided
Letter of allocations sent to approved agencies
July JAAA
prepares Area Plan and submits to Kansas Department on Aging
by August 1st of each year for approval
September
Kansas Department on Aging issues Notice of Grant Awards
to JAAA
*Jayhawk Area Agency on Aging,
Inc. solicits proposals from agencies and organizations
for the purpose of providing services for the elderly in
Douglas, Jefferson and Shawnee counties. The grant period
runs from October 1st to September 30th of each year in
accordance with the Older Americans Act of 1965 as amended.
Jayhawk
Area Agency on Aging awards grants
in the following categories:

· Title III-B Supportive
Services that include, but are not limited
to: transportation, legal, health screening, outreach, information,
visiting, telephoning and personal care services
· Title III-C Nutrition
Services that include home-delivered meals
and congregate meals
· Title III-D Disease
Prevention and Health Promotion Services
that include, but are not limited to, information-age related
disorders, routine health screening, and medication management
education; and
· Title III-E Caregiver
Services that include services to a caregiver
of a recipient 60+ years of age or a 60+ relative/grandparent
providing care to children under the age of 19.
